Editorial & Schedule Verification Policy

The standards and verification protocols governing all examination data on IndianTimers.

1. Primary Authority Sourcing Only

We strictly source examination schedules from primary, legally recognized conducting bodies:

  • NTA (National Testing Agency): exams.nta.ac.in & jeemain.nta.nic.in
  • UPSC: upsc.gov.in official gazette & annual calendars
  • IIT Joint Admission Boards: official organising institute portals
  • CBSE & State School Education Boards: official state government portals

Secondary news aggregators, speculative blog posts, or social media rumors are never accepted as valid source citations.

2. The Four-Tier Status Classification

Official ConfirmedThe conducting body has released a formal press circular or information bulletin with exact dates. Every such record links directly to the supporting official portal.
Tentative (Official Calendar)Published in an official annual programme (e.g. UPSC Annual Calendar) where the conducting body notes the dates are provisional and subject to change. Clearly labelled "Tentative" in the UI.
Date Not Announced (TBA)If the official notification has not yet been released, the countdown badge displays "Date Not Announced". We refuse to invent speculative countdowns.

3. Resolving Conflicting Information

When unofficial reports conflict with official gazettes, we prioritize the latest signed notice by the competent authority. In the rare event that an examination is postponed or rescheduled, the status is immediately flagged as Postponed / Rescheduled with the official postponement order number cited in the verification notes.

4. Transparent Verification Timestamps

Every examination record in our system maintains an auditable lastVerified ISO date. Routine audits run continuously to ensure dates stay in sync with the conducting authorities' portals.
